Thank you for your enquiry relating to the London Adventist Chorale.

The London Adventist Chorale enjoys sharing its ministry around the country and abroad in a variety of settings and to a variety of audiences and congregations.

Traditionally within the Adventist faith, we have considered ministry to be our loving  response to God’s working in our life leading to a desire to make Him known. However, as a church, we  have not always appreciated the financial implications related to various ministries. 

The London Adventist Chorale has given thousands of hours of service over the years at its own expense. Members have faithfully and joyfully borne the cost.

 

However, the London Adventist Chorale is a very different operation today, as most of its members live quite a distance out of London, all over the country  - we have singers who live in  Yorkshire,  Lincolnshire, Manchester, Buckinghamshire, Clacton-on-Sea, West Sussex, Berkshire,  and other parts of the country , and very few living in London (in spite of our name). 

Therefore there is a now a high financial cost of getting the singers from place to place. We have a duty of care and responsibility to make sure singers can travel in safety, and therefore have to consider the most practical ways of them getting from point to point. Singers already sacrifice to come to rehearsals twice on a monthly basis, bearing many of the costs themselves. It is financially unviable for them to cover performances as well. 

 

At times when we calculate the costs and share them with those seeking to book us, the costs might seem very high, however they will have been calculated based on train costs, mileage and parking, and overnight accommodation if transport does not run early enough to get singers to the venue,  and sometimes taxi costs.  The choir is a registered not-for-profit company and is required a to keep a meticulous record of costs and expenditure, therefore any information given will have been based on something real. 

With that in mind, we can say  that the typical cost of getting singers to sing in London beast performance a minimum travel cost of around £750.00 based on the typical number of singers,  and also  based on singers being able to travel on the same day. The maximum travel cost would be around £1,000. 

 

If those inviting us are unable to cover this in advance, we will not be able to fulfil engagements, as it would be a challenge to get people there.

We have taken time to explain this as we typically face reactions where people do not quite understand. Should we not be able to fulfil something on this occasion, there are some sometimes ways in which things could be fulfilled in future, for example if there are other events that we are already involved with in the same region.
